Kenya – Karura Forest.

Nairobi, Kenya has recently opened it’s Karura forest to the public as a new tourist attraction.  Already an area for picnics, additional tours and excursions will now be available.  Visitors will also experience the wildlife of the forest.  And  the popular Karura Caves and Waterfalls.  Many visitors choose a Safari Tour when visiting Kenya.   This would be the perfect opportunity to experience the African Wildlife in it’s natural habitat.

Nairobi National Park – Langata Road Nairobi Kenya.
Houses The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust which provides a safe heaven for orphan elephants and orphan rhinos.

Karen Blixen Museum - Approx 10km from Nairobi’s the city centre.
The Author of “Out of Africa” (1985 Movie).  The author’s former home is now a museum, showcasing personal artefacts from Karen Blixen, the early 1900s and some memorabilia from the movie.

Nairobi’s National Museum – Museum Hill, Nairobi, Kenya.
Here you will see outdoor sculptures, Botanical Gardens, the Snake Park and many of Kenya’s historical and natural art and artefacts.

Nairobi’s Railway Museum -Station Road, Nairobi, Kenya.
Opened in 1971 and operated by Kenya Railways.  The museum’s special features are three steam locomotives which are very well protected and may need prior consent to view.  Other Engines dating as far back as the 1950s are also on show, some of them still operational.

Half Term.

Next week is half term, 21st February 2011 – 25th February 2011.  The kids will be looking for fun things to do.  The parents will be looking up child care arrangement.  Nonetheless, The are lots of fun things to do with your kids.  If you plan to travel during the half term break, the choice of destinations are countless.  However I’m getting a lot of feedback on city breaks; Spain, Potugal and Euro Disney being very popular choices.

Happy Valentines Day.

It’s that time of the year when chocolates, roses and weekend trips are in full bloom.  Romance is in the air.  Some of the World’s most romantic Countries and cities will become crowded with visitors.   Let’s not forget all the happy valentines day cards that will be sent and recieved.  I’m just waiting for the post to be delivered.  Don’t worry if you haven’t got a valentine.  There is always is always next year.

New Museum In Rhodes.

If Europe is your destination for a holiday this year.  Rhodes, Greece, could be a good option. This rings especially true for all art lovers.  In addition to being a wonderful city.  A newly built Museum of Modern Art has opended.  It is an extension of the Art Gallery.

The Museum of Modern Art is a multi-storey complex.  It will showcase drawings, engravings, historical documents, paintings and sculptures. It also has a café, gift shop, an educational programmes centre and a library/reading room.

In addition to the cultrual experience in Rhodes. There are many fabulous beaches and other tourist attractions. One in particular is The Colossus of Rhodes, (the statue of the Greek God Helios). World famous as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The Travel Show.

The TNT Travel Show, is free travel exhibition, which has been held in London for the past seven years.  It will high light a large range of destinations, festivals and events.  Which may give you new travel ideas.

There will be a free internet zone, seminars, competitions any many other features.  Some of the Countries featured will include Africa, Australia, eastern Europe, South America, and many other international travel destinations.
