Ribe is the location in Denmark where this Summer’s attention will be on it’s culture. This may be a great designation if culture figures heavily into your travel plans.
The oldest Town situated in Denmark is called Ribe. Believe or not, it has been in existence for 1,300 years. As part of the 2010 festive activities, the town has a number of events going on this Summer.
A Little Ribe History.
Ribe’s history goes back further than I can count, as far back as 710 AD, (Viking days). There is the Ribe River marketpalce, the Viking Center, which has an interactive display of re-enactment scenes and circumstances of that time.
Also, the Viking Museum is filled with many Viking artefacts on show. This sounds like a great place to travel to, and experience something different. Especially so for the historians among you.
