Travel To Hong Kong – Enjoy The Festivals.

Thousands of people travel to Hong Kong, to join the many festivals each year. Some of the things you can experience are lion and dragon dancers, Chinese opera. Fireworks, mah jong. Fortune-telling, carnivals and parades in a variety of combinations. Below are details of just two festivals.

Dragon Boat Festival – 20th – 22nd June 2015.

This festival commemorates the death of Qu Yuan, a popular Chinese national hero. Over 2,000 years ago, he drowned himself in the Mi Lo River in protest against the corrupt rulers at that time.

Seven Sisters Festival – 20th August 2015.

This festival dates back more than 1,500 years. It’s a legend, about a weaver maid who had six older sisters. She led a lonely life just working at her weaving each year. Emperor, her father felt sorry, he allowed her to marry a cow herder across the Milky Way. The girl started to neglect her weaving duties and she was ordered her to return home by her father and only allowed her to visit her husband once a year. That was on the seventh day of the seventh moon. This is why the festival was named; The Seven Sisters Festival.
